NAB Cup Review - Western Bulldogs 53 def Brisbane 45

The best thing to come out of the Doggies performance was the midfield role of (Dream team FWD) Daniel Giansiracusa . There has been alot of talk about Gia looking super fit and completing one of his first pre seasons in a fair while. He backed this up with 21 touches, 4 tackles and a handy 85 points. Cooney is considered a bit of a steal this year due to his injury interrupted year in 09′ leaving him with an average of 90. He copped a tag from Rischitelli and limped to a score of 60 with 19 touches. Stand in ruckman Jordan Roughead did a great job filling in for the injured Will Minson scoring 54 points. Gilbee, Cross and Higgins (who copped a minor ankle injury) were all quiet but its far from a concern.

Tom Rockliff caught the eye for a couple of reasons. The fact he is named as forward but seemed to spend alot of time in the midfield was very pleasing especially considering he is priced at $101,100. On the not so pleasing side, there are a couple of good Lion mids to return so he is not locked into the best 22 just yet. The much talked up Jack Redden did nothing to anger is supporters with 17 touches and 74 points as a mid priced midfield option. Matthew Leunenberger was the better of the returning ruckmen scoring 49 compared to Jamie Charmans 33. What does this mean to Mitch Clark? Watch this space!
Its great to see Rockliff firing could be on a lot of benches as he is listed as a forward but played in the midfield also great to see the ruck stocks at Brisbane up and about again.
